Smoke cloudsAll aroundCouldn't see Your faceDarkness consumed meStuck in the bitterness
But I know there's a lightThat's waiting up aheadSo I'll stay in the fightAnd look to the One who said
Hold on just a little bit longerI know it's gonna be okayThese days are gonna make you strongerYou'll find purpose in the painHold on just a little bit longerDeep down there's a well of faithLet hope arise as you're lifting up My nameAnd just hold on

Life throws a lot of things at us. Times when we feel overwhelmed, lost, or... just unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel. In these times, it's hard to often keep going or hold on. As the song says "Smokes clouds, all around, couldn't see Your face" At times it gets so dark, so cloudy with all the circumstances that we lose sight of God's face and His guidance. We begin to lose ourselves and let go of Who we should be holding onto.
What SHOULD we be holding onto?
To hold on, we have to have something to hold onto. So what are we holding onto? Are we holding onto our life? Our relationships, our past, our mistakes or failures? While we may WANT to hold onto these things, or so often find ourself doing so, we're not supposed to. We shouldn't hold onto everything that's happened, or is happening. I tend to worry about my future, or dwell on the past, my mistakes, the things I've done, and the things in the future I could do that would mess up life. But are we holding onto the One who actually matters?
I was in a service one morning and the preacher was referencing a YouTube Video. It was a video about a guy in Hurricane Milton, he was struggling to keep his head above the rushing flood waters and he was traveling through whatever town it was. A stranger threw him a rope, this guy had a choice: grab the rope and save himself, or let it pass him.
Using that illustration, Christ is the rope. Are we holding onto that rope? Christ gave it to us, but are we holding on? When the waves and darkness of this earth come over us, we may be struggling to keep our heads up. Even when we have the rope, we start slipping away, closer and closer to the end. We may begin thinking there's no hope. There is no light at the end of that long tunnel. The darkness has swallowed us too far for us to get back out. How we respond to this, is up to us. Do we leave and turn our backs, or do we keep holding on to the rope?

There is a Light
But I know there's a light
That's waiting up ahead
So I'll stay in the fight
Even in the darkness there is a light at the end of our tunnel. It may be dark for a season, but light will come again. Jesus Christ is our light. He is the Light of the world. No matter how dark life may seem or how cloudy the skies may get He is the sunshine and the light that will always shine through. Even when Satan attacks and tries to hide His light, we can look to Christ as our hope and strength.
So my friends, keep fighting the good fight. Keep looking to Christ. You may feel like you're in a clouded area of your life right now or struggling in the darkness. It's going to be okay, HOLD onto Christ, don't let go. Let His love keep you upright. These days are rough, and they seem to get harder at times but they have a purpose. The things we go through right now are nothing to be compared with the things that will be in Heaven. The pain hurts, the memories create chaos at times, but these days, these are what make us stronger. When we turn to Christ through these struggles instead of trying to fight them on our own, THEN we grow in our faith. Through tribulation out faith is challenged that it may grow.
Life’s challenges can be daunting, but as Christians, we have the assurance that we are never alone. We can face any storm and emerge stronger in our faith because "Satan will attack, but greater is He who is living in us then the one living the world." Trust in His promises, and find solace in His Word. Whatever you’re going through, just hold on—God has a plan for you.
